Le mot vendange vient du latin vindemia.
Après la révolution française le mois de Vendémiaire, qui était le premier mois du calendrier républicain, correspondait à la période comprise, suivant les années, entre les 21, 22 ou 23 septembre et les 21, 22 ou 23 octobre. Il tirait son nom des vendanges qui avaient, à l'époque, lieu en septembre-octobre...

The word harvest comes from the Latin vindemia.
After the French Revolution, the month of Vendémiaire, which was the first month of the Republican calendar, corresponded to the period included, depending on the year, between September 21, 22 or 23 and October 21, 22 or 23. It took its name from the harvest which, at the time, took place in September-October.
